To prevent the story from dragging any longer, several scenes unnecessary to the plot were dropped in favor of a more cohesive, straight-to-the-point narrative lasting only 11 chapters following the 25th entry in the saga before completion on December 15, 2019. Let's be Heroes with their own miniseries to fill in the gap between development. After the release of Chapter 25, which originally was meant to have an additional chapter directly continuing the episode, the crossover would go on hiatus to complete any remaining side projects before returning to finish the main story.Īfter only a few weeks, Frozarburst returned to work on the story once more, this time with the addition of the original Teen Titans and Turbo K.O. More covers were posted to promote the project along with a number of weekly updates to keep viewers up to speed on current events. By the time it was released, more characters were added as a result of the influence of the Virus, the Forgotten Society, and allies who joined the Toon Force over the years. This gave Frozar more time to expand the lore and work around multiple elements of the plotlines that would conclude in the last arc. But as Toon Wars progressed and more parts of the story were being written, including the Magiswords Trilogy, the Final Days Saga was pushed for a December 2018 release to mark the anniversary of the series. Like the first three arcs before it, it had a predetermined schedule slated for a June 2018. In its earliest form, the plot was fairly straightforward focusing on Spongebob instead of the rest of the Toon Force, which along with the idea of modern shows being corrupted was rejected with only a few elements being borrowed for the final version. Once the other sagas were established, The Final Days was pushed to be a proper finale to the series which would carefully be updated as changes to the lore were made during production of the previous arcs. This idea was quickly rejected and reworked in its entirety when development of the Nicktoons Saga began on August 2017. Contrary to the final version, it was initially written as the first story arc of the series with a much stronger emphasis on modern cartoons being rebooted and corrupted. As the name suggests, The Final Days is the last installment of the Toon Wars fan-series first conceptualized in early 2016-2017.
